Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: Is it worth the money?

Updated: May 16, 2023

Recently, my daughter and I went on our first Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Magic from April 10th-14th. During our time, I signed my daughter up for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover session before our formal night dinner.

With packages starting at $100+ it is not a cheap price. Was it really worth it?

Before we even stepped foot in the boutique, I already had a few things in place that would lower the price and some could argue, it may have taken away from the experience. My Aunt already bought my daughter a princess dress (Princess Tiana to be exact) as a way to save a little money. The dress we bought was $40 compared to the extra $100 for one of their gowns.

My daughter has locs, so no heavy hair manipulation was required on the stylist part. We also already bought her a Princess Tiana jewelry set that came with earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet. Lastly we had a Princess Tiana tiara in case she did not like the crown options at the boutique. So before we even began, I already had specific items in place that would allow us to save some money.

When we arrived at the boutique, we were swiftly checked in and the stylist informed us of our different packages. We chose the cheapest option $99.95 which included hairstyling, shimmering make up, a face gem, nail polish, a princess sash, and a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt. With an added gown, the price would have been $199.95.

Our stylist (Fairy Godmother's Apprentice) was Amy Louise from England and she was very nice and had a bright personality. She informed me of the new training the stylist received which included being able to style braids and natural hair. I informed her that she could put the back of my daughter's locs in a ponytail if needed but we did not want any product in her hair as that could damage her locs. My daughter ended up choosing a flower crown with a pink ponytail extension that she put over the top of my daughter's locs.

Next we added the shimmering nail polish, some light makeup that included a gloss and eye shadow. Then a pink heart face gem was added. Once the makeup was complete it was time to add the pixie dust.

We left the boutique with a cute pink shimmering backpack that contain the makeup they used, the nail polish, our boutique t-shirt, and aftercare instruction for the make up and hairspray (if needed)

Our experience took about 30 minutes before we left to eat dinner at Rapunzel's Royal Table for dinner.

Was is worth the money? If you are going for the experience rather than the makeover, I would say yes. There's nothing like coming into a boutique, getting serviced, and made to feel like a princess while being immersed in a Disney experience. However, I feel that with my daughter already having a dress, and her hair already styled, I could do the makeup for her myself and we would have similar results, minus the hair extensions and princess sash.

To me this experience is a one and done. While I did not mind paying the money for the experience of my daughter feeling like a princess, for future references I would just save money by buying our own gowns like we did. Then I would do her makeup for her. Even the most magical part with the pixie dusting experience at the end isn't exclusive to paying customers. Guest have gotten the pixie dust for free with no appointment required if you're ever in the parks or in Downtown Disney.
